at the University of Twente -
Inspired by McKenney's and Reeves' new book, Conducting Educational Design Research, a conference on Design Based Research is organized by the University of Twente, the SLO and Stichting DoCenter.
Design based research (DBR) as a new eclectic branch of science combines theory and practice, laboratory and reality, experiment and intervention, scientists and practitioners, analysis and implementation, means and ends, rigor and relevance, near and far transfer, functionalism and pragmatism, mode 1 and mode 2 knowledge production, hence research and design.

In this conference presentations will reflect upon DBR’s theoretical impetus, methodological consequences, and practical ambitions. Researchers, designers, and teachers as researchers and designers, are encouraged to participate in discussions.
