The ICO NSS, a networking event
The ICO National Spring School is a biennial, two-day networking event for all ICO Members: PhDs, Staff and Post Docs and ICO Alumni. During this event ICO members can

  •          meet, mingle, and learn about the projects of other ICO members, while the PhDs can practice their presentation skills in a safe surroundings;
  •          meet kindred research spirits during the Meet-your-Theme Group-lunch;
  •          informally catch up with long lost colleagues at the conference dinner in Utrecht city center;
  •          learn more about "The consequences of publication bias and questionable research practices for science" and "Writing for a broader public" during the workshops

The PhD presentation session
The focus of the NSS is on the PhD-candidates: They have the opportunity to present their project. More information about the different presentation types, and how to prepare yourself for a presentation can be found on the website, on the pages on Presentations. And we will reward the best paper for a "Paper Presentation" with ICO’s Best Paper Award!

We would strongly recommend attending the ICO NSS as an Auditor to first year-PhD candidates. You are warmly invited to join us, in order to meet people from the ICO network, and to learn from all presentations and discussions. Also, if you know PhD’s in Educational Sciences who are not an ICO member, but do have a strong interest in Educational Research, they are also welcome to visit the NSS.

More information
To find out more about the ICO NSS, go to the ICO National Spring School website. In due time the site will be filled with the schedule, more information about the keynote by Sanne Akkerman, the workshops, and the various presentation sessions. We will also try to provide you with some information of available hotels and hostels in the area in case you need to find yourself a place to stay.

Do you want to be present, but you cannot be there for the whole two days? No problem! You can also register for just one of the days.

We look forward to meeting you at the ICO NSS2017, April 20-21, 2017 at Utrecht University.
